Data Processing

The Data Processing staff is responsible for supporting the internal computer operations of Intermediate Unit 1. We maintain sixteen production servers and four testing/development servers which act as web servers, database servers, file servers, etc. We maintain a number of applications, such as: email, payroll, accounting, student records, the IU1 web site, the iuWeb Portal, and the Cooperative Purchasing system. We also develop and maintain databases for our departments such as Human Resources and Special Education.

Some of our responsibilities include:

• Web design, programming, and database development and administration
• Email administration
• Maintain daily back-ups of our servers and all employee workstations in the central office
• Perform data collection for Penn Data while also providing technical support to schools with their data collection and reporting for ESPP, ADGR, and ESPE
• Provide help desk support for both Mac and PC to over 700 of our employees
• Maintain a Cooperative Purchasing consortium along with our member school districts to use the power of bulk buying to reduce costs
• Converting hard copy student records to electronic format and storing them in a database for easy reference and retrieval
