Online Courses and Workshops

Online professional development fits the needs of all learners, and is becoming a popular way for teachers to meet Act 48 requirements, complete credits for Level II certification, or for updating knowledge. Such courses support independent, flexible, and purposeful learning for today's busy educator. Intermediate Unit One's courses are asynchronous, which means that teachers can do the work during any time of the day from any location where there is an Internet connection. To be successful as an online learner, participants need to only have basic skills with email, the Internet, and word processing. Intermediate Unit One uses BlendedSchools Blackboard courseware for all online studies. Training in Blackboard is offered face to face at the IU as well as being built into every course offered online.

Currently, IU1 offers a full ESL program specialist certification in the online format. Some other offerings include a series of workshops for paraprofessionals, induction workshops, technology trainings, mentoring, data tools, differentiated instruction, entrepreneurship, and assessment. Be sure to check the course listings often to see what new courses are available.

Staff at IU1 are dedicated to supporting your successful completion of online coursework. For more information about online courses and workshops, please contact:
