Curriculum and Assessment

The Instructional Support Services staff provides technical assistance, training, and resources to assist districts in planning and designing curriculum and planned courses to meet the requirements of Chapter 4. Curriculum design focuses on the components of the curriculum and how they interrelate. State standards have forced the issue of alignment between curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The process of aligning a curriculum assures that there is a supportive relationship between the three. Resources and tools are available to districts to assist in auditing the alignment to state standards and assessment anchors. As districts develop an aligned curriculum, needs arise for mapping real time, actual data for content and skills developed over time. Curriculum mapping becomes a highly collaborative process to ensure a seamless cumulative development of content and skills and continuity throughout the K-12 spectrum. ISS staff assist districts with incorporating online and electronic resources to manage the curriculum design or curriculum mapping process.
