Frazier Athlete Overcomes Handicap

For the Tribune ReviewRobert "Buck" Marietta is deaf, but that hasn't stopped him from becoming an important part of the undefeated Commodores through two weeks.
"He came out for this team as a sophomore, and he has always had a great attitude," Frazier coach Lew Sweitzer said. "In order to get into games, he knew he had a lot of work to do. He had to overcome his handicap, and he had to get into football shape. He's done that."
Marietta, a senior, plays on Frazier's special teams. He also hopes to make an impact as a defensive tackle.
Marietta, who spoke through interpreter Paul Tajc, is excited to be a part of the team.
"We have a wonderful team, and I take pride in something like this," Marietta said. "It's something to be proud of."
