A light shines in the darkness

For the Tribune ReviewThroughout middle school, Dylan Shanaberger, now a freshman at Frazier High School in Perryopolis, was not unlike any other member of the Commodores marching band performing during halftime programs at football games.
But this past football season, band Director Rod Staggers found a new position for Shanaberger on the 50-yard line — right in the center of the field.
“Dylan was our pivot man for the halftime show,” Staggers said.
Shanaberger, who plays the trumpet, remembers it exactly.
“It felt awesome being right in the middle of everything. It was totally different than where I was before on the field. My part of the routine was to take 16 steps forward and eight backward.”
