Canon-Mac Student Receives SHASDA Award
Jonathan Vermilya, a student of Jeannine McCoy, Itinerent Hearing Support, attended the SHASDA Conference at Southpointe at the Hilton Garden Inn, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, on April 18, 2009. He became the recipient of the SHASDA Student Performance Award representing the Canon-McMillan School District. The South Hills Area School Districts Association (SHASDA) is a consortium of 22 school districts interacting to improve public education in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh.
This award is given to two students in each of the participating districts, who have demonstrated significant improvement in student performance and/or have overcome obstacles in attaining their present status. The criteria may include improvement in grades, achievement test scores, attendance, and outstanding improvement in academics as well as the practical and fine arts. This award is designed to recognize growth and improvement in students. Congratulations Jonathan!
