The Foundation for Exceptional Children - Yes I Can
The Foundation for Exceptional Children annually sponsors a program which recognizes the achievements of children and youth with disabilities entitled Yes I Can! There is no cost to participate in the program - only time is required. The program recognizes all youth participants with a handsome certificate of achievement suitable for framing (excellent for award presentations in the Spring ) and 35 youth are selected as top award winners and presented with a bronze statue entitled "Youth Victorious." This presentation will be part of the Council for Exceptional Children's Annual Convention in the Spring of 1998 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Foundation for Exceptional Children has addressed the needs of over 50,000 children and youth with disabilities through its programs these past twenty-six years. Twenty-six years of support to youth through innovative and effective programs which challenge, reward and guide all youth with disabilities to achieve their greatest potential. The Foundation believes that all children and youth with disabilities should be recognized for their accomplishments. The goal of Yes I Can! is to encourage the growth and development of children and youth with disabilities by recognizing their achievements and identifying role models of achievers with disabilities whose accomplishments can also inspire them. The concepts of challenge, positive self image, team building, civic responsibility and service are developed through the program. The concept of "everybody is a winner who participates" has been well received.
